Due to a broken boiler at the Charlie Sava Pool, the remainder of the pool’s winter session classes and recreation swims have been cancelled.
According to the SF Recreation and Park Department, the accounts of all registrants will be credited for the cancelled classes. The department said it is working to fix the boiler and to get Sava Pool back to full capacity.
Lap swims are continuing at the pool, which is located at 19th Avenue and Vicente Street, but will be suspended if the water temperature falls below the “critical level of 70 degrees.”
Several other city pools have expanded their hours to accommodate extra swimmers.
Sava Pool reopened in 2009 after a $17 million renovation. Daily updates of progress to fix Sava’s boiler problem can be had by calling the pool at (415) 661-6327.
