Above: The vicinity of Fulton Street and 48th Avenue looked a little different on Jan. 10, 1913 than it does today. The three-story chalet building on the right was known as Cycler’s Rest, a stop for bicycle enthusiasts on the western edge of San Francisco. But it started out as the Humboldt County Building at the 1894 California Midwinter International Exposition in Golden Gate Park.
