Vandalism, Trespassing: 500 Block of Point Lobos Avenue, Nov. 22, 1:27 a.m.

Officers were dispatched to the scene of a possible burglary in progress. The witness said she heard someone banging on the front door of her hotel room and the sound of someone trying the doorknob. She then heard the sound of glass breaking in the adjacent unit.

Responding officers found the suspect in the shower, naked. The suspect stated that he took a pill and was unable to walk and needed immediate help. The suspect stated that he had broken the window to get inside the apartment because he needed to shower.

Based on the suspect’s demeanor, apparent mental status and the statements he provided, an ambulance was called to transport him to San Francisco General Hospital.

The subject was subsequently booked at County Jail for felony vandalism and misdemeanor trespassing.

Outstanding Warrant: 700 Block of 28th Avenue, Nov. 22, 8:59 a.m.

Officers responded to a call of a hot-prowl burglary.

The witness had received a notification from his Ring doorbell camera app which showed the subject shaking the front gate. The witness said he confronted the subject and asked him what he was doing on his block. The subject explained that he was looking for a friend but could not say where his friend lived.

Responding officers detained the subject. A computer records check on the suspect revealed that he had an active warrant out of San Mateo County for felony possession of a firearm.

The subject never made entry into the witness’ property, and the front gate of the property was still secured and intact, with no damage.

The subject was booked at County Jail for his outstanding warrant and a number of narcotics charges.

Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol (DUI): Park Presidio Boulevard at California Street, Nov. 24, 1:40 a.m.

While investigating a vehicle collision, the officer noticed that one of the drivers was displaying objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. The suspect stated he stated he had drunk two beers that evening.

The officer on scene conducted a DUI investigation. The suspect performed poorly at Field Sobriety Tests (FSTs), and the officer determined that he had been driving under the influence and arrested him.

The driver was transported to Richmond Station to take a breath test, the results of which were .20% and .19% blood alcohol content (BAC), above the legal limit of .08% BAC. A computer records check revealed a DUI arrest on May 5, 2022.

The suspect was booked at County Jail for driving under the influence, second DUI within 10 years, and open containers of alcohol in the vehicle.

Possession of a Loaded Firearm: Geary Boulevard at 27th Avenue, Nov. 24, 2:52 p.m.

Officers responded to a call of a vehicle in the intersection of Geary Boulevard and 27th Avenue.

Upon their arrival, the officers observed a beige Toyota Camry facing westbound in the number two lane, partially in the intersection. The Toyota was running, with the exterior lights on. The officers observed a person in the driver’s seat with their head leaning on the driver’s side window who appeared to be asleep. With the car running and still in gear, an officer opened the passenger door and placed the car in park. Another officer opened the driver’s side door, reached inside and turned the vehicle off and retained the keys to the vehicle. While he was doing this, the officer observed a firearm between the driver’s seat and the center console of the vehicle.

A computer records check revealed that the firearm was stolen out of Tempe, Arizona. The driver did not display any objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication and stated he was just very tired.

The subject was booked at County Jail for carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, possession of a large capacity magazine and receiving stolen property.

Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol: Fulton Street at 14th Avenue, Dec. 1, 9:30 p.m.

While investigating a vehicle collision, the officer noticed that one of the drivers was displaying objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication.

The suspect stated she had two drinks that evening. The officer on scene conducted a DUI investigation. The suspect performed poorly at Field Sobriety Tests (FSTs). The officer determined that she had been driving under the influence and arrested her.

The driver was transported to Richmond Station to take a breath test, the results of which were .18% and .17% BAC.

The suspect was cited for misdemeanor driving under the influence and released to the care of her friend.

Driving or Taking a Vehicle Without Consent: 800 Block of La Playa Street, Dec. 2, 11:04 p.m.

Officers on patrol observed a white GMC box truck parked in a parking lot with an Oklahoma license plate. A computer query of the license plate showed that the vehicle was stolen.

The officers approached the truck and ordered the driver to exit the vehicle. The driver verbally protested, opened the driver’s door but would not put down the items she was holding and attempted to light a cigarette. The officers warned the subject that if she did not comply, she would be forcibly removed from the truck and placed in handcuffs. The subject refused to put down her items and continued arguing, so she was removed from the truck and placed in handcuffs.

The subject was booked at County Jail for driving or taking a vehicle without consent and being in possession of stolen property.

Auto Burglary Abatement Operation: 3600 Block of Geary Boulevard, Dec. 3, 5:30 p.m.

Plainclothes units working an auto burglary abatement operation observed suspects in a vehicle casing car in and out of multiple districts. The vehicle was a known casing vehicle from incidents in prior weeks.

Officers observed the suspects’ vehicle pull up to a victim’s vehicle. Another suspect got out, used a punch to smash the window, reached in and grabbed a bag from inside the vehicle.

As the suspect was removing the bag from the vehicle, the owner came back and startled the suspect, who dropped the bag. The suspect immediately got back inside the suspects’ vehicle, which drove away with all suspects.

Plainclothes officers followed the suspects’ vehicle to the Richmond District, where they went to a house for a few minutes, then later started to drive away. Spike strips were authorized and successfully deployed.

The suspects appeared unaware of the success of the spike strips and proceeded to a gas station to fill up the flat tire. An arrest plan was formulated and all suspects were taken into custody without incident. Three out of the four suspects arrested were juveniles. Per Juvenile Probation, the Police Department was instructed that all the juveniles in this incident were to be cited for the felonies.

One 18-year-old was booked at County Jail, and three juveniles were all released to their parents.

Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol: Fulton Street at Park Presidio Boulevard, Dec. 5, 12:42 a.m.

While investigating a vehicle collision, an officer noticed that one of the drivers was displaying objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. The 20-year-old suspect denied that he had drunk any alcohol or ingested any drugs that evening.

The officer on scene conducted a DUI investigation. The suspect performed poorly at FSTs. The officer determined that he had been driving under the influence and arrested him.

The driver was transported to Richmond Station to take a breath test, the results of which were .14% BAC (the legal limit for drivers under 21 years old is .01% BAC).

The suspect was booked at County Jail for misdemeanor driving under the influence.

Stolen Vehicle, Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools: 3300 Block of Cabrillo Street, Dec. 7, 3:58 p.m.

Officers responded to the area of 34th Avenue and Cabrillo Street regarding several suspects breaking into a vehicle.

Upon their arrival, two suspects in the suspects’ vehicle fled westbound. Two juvenile subjects were located in the victim’s vehicle, which had a shattered window and the ignition cover was damaged and removed.

One juvenile was transported to the Community Assessment Referral Center (CARC) and cited for attempted vehicle theft and burglary. The other juvenile had an active no-bail warrant for felony aggravated mayhem. Based on his probation officer’s request, the juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center (JJC).

Burglary, Forcible Entry of a Residence: 700 Block of 12th Avenue, Dec. 8, 6 p.m.

A suspect shut down the power to the entire house by cutting the electrical wiring. The suspects then broke the glass sliding door, gaining access into the house, and then located the safe in the bedroom closet. The suspects forced the safe open and stole approximately $500,000 in U.S. currency and jewelry, along with miscellaneous documents.

Video surveillance showed two suspects crawling on the second-floor backyard balcony before the third suspect cut power to the house, the video ends due to the power loss.

All suspects are currently outstanding.

Outstanding Warrant: 4300 Block of Geary Bouelvard, Dec. 16, 12:59 p.m.

Officers responded to a call regarding an aggressive homeless man blocking the entrance into a parking garage.

Enroute to the address, officers conducted a computer records check of a known subject who frequents the area which revealed an active warrant out of San Francisco.

Upon their arrival, officers observed the subject standing in front of the parking garage entrance. They placed him into handcuffs without incident.

Central Warrants Bureau (CWB) confirmed the warrant and the suspect was booked at County Jail.

Failure To Register as a Sex Offender: 400 Block of 18th Avenue, Dec. 16, 2:08 p.m.

Officers responded to Argonne Playground to assist Park Rangers with a known subject throwing trash around inside of the park. Upon their arrival they observed the subject, moving his belongings from inside the park to his tent located on the sidewalk.

The officers contacted the subject, offered to secure him shelter and told him that if he refused shelter, they would seize his tent on the sidewalk for illegal lodging.

Based on prior contacts with the subject, the officers knew that he is a registered sex offender. A computer records check revealed that the subject was in violation of his sex registration requirements, so he was placed under arrest and booked at County Jail for failure to register as a sex offender.

Carjacking With a Knife: 4400 Block of Balboa Street, Dec. 17, 5:46 p.m.

A food delivery driver stopped his vehicle in the street to complete his delivery and got out, leaving the engine running and the doors unlocked.

Upon returning to his vehicle, he saw a newer black Mercedes SUV suspect vehicle parked in front of his vehicle.

One suspect waited at the victim’s vehicle while a second female suspect was standing next to the SUV. The male suspect brandished a knife and held it towards the victim, then said something in English that the victim did not understand. The male suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and drove away at high rate of speed. The female suspect got into the SUV and followed.

The suspects are currently outstanding.

Carjacking with a Gun, Robbery: California Street and 23rd Avenue, Dec. 17, 7:41 p.m.

The victim double parked her black Ford Mustang rental vehicle outside a restaurant while her boyfriend waited in the passenger seat.

The suspect approached and entered the vehicle’s driver’s seat, pointed a firearm at the male victim and said, “Get the **** out of the car!”

The male victim, in fear, exited the vehicle and watched the suspect drive away. Descriptions were provided to all districts.

Later that day, Southern units responded to a well-being check of a male who was passed out inside a black Ford Mustang. Dispatch advised the responding officers that the vehicle was taken in a carjacking involving a firearm about four hours prior in the City.

A plan was developed to safely apprehend the suspect while the vehicle was parked with the suspect inside. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The officers conducted an eyewitness identification and the suspect was placed under arrest. The firearm was not located in an approved search of the vehicle, and the suspect was later booked at County Jail.
