Poems by Nancy Jong

A New Love

The winds of change are blowing
The leaves whispering spring is coming
A new love to open your heart
To bask in the vast joys of happiness
It’s only a matter of time
It’s only a matter of months
Before spring is sprung
And the new love is begun

Courting

One day you two make eye contact
The next day he winks
Another day you both smile
After a week he waves
Days later you exchange hellos
Following day he stops to ask you your name
Same day you talk on the phone for hours
Another month he leaves his toothbrush at your house

For You

My love for you runs deep
As deep as the hills of San Francisco are steep
For you I will jump as high and as far as I can leap
My heart I give to you to keep
