“In a little cafe on the other side of the …” or so the 1964 Gene Pitney song starts.

Well this little cafe, or coffee house, is Snowbird Coffee located at 1352-A Ninth Avenue in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset District. Also known as Snowbird: For The Dreamers, and is the creation of Eugene and Anna Kim who opened the cafe in October, 2014.

Whereas Snowbirds are historically individuals who travel to the warmer climates for the winter, in this case, the Kim’s decided that their coffee haven would in fact be a place to warm up its community atmosphere while serving hot coffee.

The menu consists of traditional drinks. Some are Snowbird originals, such as the Cafe Bonbon which is an expresso drink that originated in Spain. Also on the menu is the Shakerato which is prepared in a classic shaker, more Italian style.

Snowbird is located on Ninth Avenue between Irving and Judah streets. Come on down and don’t worry about airfare or going through security. The cafe is open and a place to warm yourself from those chilly summer nights in the Sunset District.
