Coffee at California Kahve

I knew something was different when I met Molly Welton at her coffee truck on a Thursday morning last month at the Tunnel Top in the Presidio in San Francisco. 

She asked me if I wanted some coffee and I said sure. She gave me a tour of the menu and we decided on a Wildflower Honey Latte using Guatemalan espresso, steamed milk, wildflower honey then sprinkled with rose petals and lavender. It was delicious. 

Molly is the owner of California Kahve. She started her version of this coffee shop in 2021 with a passion to excel at serving drinks with the finest and freshest ingredients. It all started when she came across a 1960 Layton camper in Los Angeles and spent considerable time and money bringing it up to speed. 

Molly has that unusual combination of talents that include creativity within the coffee universe, combined with a keen sense of business savvy and a passion for sustainability. Her husband, Daniel, a New Zealand native, helped plant the seed when Molly didn’t know where to open her coffee shop. 

Daniel is an avid supporter and a baker as well. In fact, he is producing a cookie known as the Afghan Cookie, a combination of his New Zealand heritage and something Afghani, but no one knows for sure. That might end up on the menu at California Kahve. 

Molly not only likes her coffee strong, but she exudes strength of character as well when it comes to her values. She challenges cafe and restaurant owners to buy specialty items locally rather than hitting up Amazon. She understands how quality translates to taste. 

Stop in at California Kahve at one of their two truck locations and enjoy a great vibe as well as some fabulous coffee.
