Editor:
I find Quentin Kopp’s commentary increasingly less interesting. Although his writing style makes it sometimes hard to decipher, I sense that he has a political agenda. His commentary in the May issue of Sunset Beacon appears to me to include Republican talking points, such as the claim that immigrants are taking away American jobs, that Democrats are allowing criminals (“lawbreakers”) into the country, subtle jabs at President Biden and Vice President Harris, and a hard-to-decipher comment on the Israel-Palestine controversy.
If he is going to be allowed to push his right-wing agenda, however subtly, via your newspaper, maybe you could include a another point of view in your publication. Can you find another writer who could contribute meaningful insight into local (rather than national) politics?

“Can you find another writer who could contribute meaningful insight into local (rather than national) politics?”
– Implying that Kopp doesn’t offer (meaningful?) local political insight, isn’t that silly. Whether or not he leans with a more conservative bent on some issues that affect national and local politics that you disagree with, it’s hardly an actual examination of his analyses of the local political machines. Kopp’s been around, he’s seen actors good and bad come and go, and for longer than most local memories still reach. It’s entirely likely that he’s more representative of a bygone SF – as many longtime locals, liberal and conservative both, are finding themselves these days. It’s not a perspective just to toss out because you disagree on a few even key national political issues. Instead of merely mentioning that you disagree, why not use this very forum to quote directly and make your own perspectives known at length?
After all if you’re interested in “another writer who could contribute meaningful insight” why not try to fill that local pothole yourself? Kopp certainly isn’t drowning out any other views with his occasional contributions, and we should expect and try to appreciate different perspectives from different corners. If something sparks push-back from you or anyone else, make it known – that’s part of this process too. Discourse. Biden and Harris are certainly fair game for jabs IMO. Immigration as it stands is certainly a national and local issue to be debated. So? Debate away.

It’s about time we scale back all the Right Wing views taking over our City! One day, the Democrats will dominate again and take us away from the land of human waste on our streets.

Absolutely, Nathen. Let’s cancel all those whose political views are different from ours. They are poor souls who simply don’t understand that we see things correctly, and they don’t. And let’s rename this publication The Pravda of the Richmond District.
