Lee for School Board to Get Us Out of Crises
Editor:
San Francisco’s public schools are in chaos – budget shortfalls, school closures, staffing shortages and frustrated families. The failed school closure rollout, which sparked protests and ultimately led to the superintendent’s resignation, is just the latest in a series of crises. We need leadership that can handle the urgent financial crises while focusing on student achievement. I’m running for the Board of Education to bring fiscal responsibility and real solutions to SFUSD.
As a proud SFUSD graduate who grew up in the Richmond and Sunset districts, attending Argonne Elementary, Presidio Middle School and Lowell High, I know what’s at stake. Over the past few years, I’ve worked tirelessly to hold the district accountable, leading efforts to reinstate the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee to ensure billions in bond funds are spent effectively. I’ve worked on the Civil Grand Jury to improve teacher hiring and retention and fought to pass Proposition G, bringing back middle school algebra, so every student has the opportunity to succeed.
From day one, I was involved in the School Board recall effort, gathering hundreds of signatures to demand accountability. I’ve seen first hand how mismanagement has let our schools fall into crisis, and I’m committed to getting the district’s finances in order and restoring trust in the system.
In addition to fiscal responsibility, I will fight for immigrant families by expanding language immersion programs and ensuring that any school closures are handled transparently, with full community involvement. We must restore trust in the system and build schools that serve every family in our diverse city.
We’re at a critical moment, and we can’t afford more mismanagement. With your vote, I’ll bring fiscal discipline, a focus on student achievement, and a commitment to better serve our diverse communities. Let’s get SFUSD back on track.
