America’s fallen military heroes and their families who are laid to rest at the Presidio National Cemetery were remembered on Dec. 14 for their duty to country Approximately 250 volunteers placed fresh wreaths on every tombstone on the hallowed grounds.
Speaking at the wreath-laying celebration were Army Colonel James Handura, California Controller Malia Cohen, District 2 Supervisor Catherine Stefani, City Attorney David Chiu and television personality Vernon Glenn.
There were numerous sponsors for the event – a part of the Wreaths Across America program – including the Java Beach Cafe, SF Unified Lions Club, San Francisco JROTC and Salesian Post 599. The remembrance wreaths event was organized by San Francisco Veteran Affairs Commissioner Prince Jordan.
