Troubles on the west side: Working class versus elites. Google and Yahoo versus plumbers and carpenters.
Much of the genesis for this lies with the supervisor in the Sunset. When people are sold out by their elected representatives, taxed, regulated, and then told: “Well this is how it’s going to be.” You have sown the seeds of discontent with the government.
Now we have lawsuits, protests, neighborhood against neighborhood, newspaper articles and angry voters. This is the result of poor leadership – failure to listen to one’s constitutes. A supermajority of the west side rejected closing the Upper Great Highway. A true leader would be tasked with this standard: They “knew” or “should have known” their constitutes.
This failure of representation has led to a malcontented populace itching for change. Take away the working-class mode of transportation, take away their parking places, start to build high-rises up and down the Lower Great Highway, Taraval Street, Noriega Street and Judah Street. Turn all the single family dwellings into multi-unit buildings. Yes, you are planting the seeds of civil unrest, my friends.
I believe that the current supervisor in the Sunset has performed his duties with malfeasance. So, we know how this began, how will it end? What’s the solution? I honestly don’t know. A good start would be for him to step down or be recalled.

Marty,
Exactly. Thank you for saying what needs to be understood and clearly isn’t.

You said it. Joel Engardio is not the man for the job. Let the voters choose their leaders and get the party out of politics. The party has failed pretty miserably lately and need to step back from local politics. Leave us alone and take care of the business in Washington. That is what you were elected to do.

Excellent points. Joel has brought the seeds of his destruction on himself. I am perplexed, as he has such self-regard for his intelligence, that he did not forsee that his lies to hundreds if not thousands of people that he supported the compromise, and his ongoing pattern of deceit and secrecy about prop k, plus trying to put a misrepresentation in the voters pamphlet, ignoring the eyesore on Sloat, lying about no highrises on the LGH, closing both the LGH and the UGH all day to have a night market blocks away from any businesses in a residential neighborhood, dismissing my question why he didn’t put the Compromise on the propk ballot (“Its too late to do that. You can put it on the ballot in 2026!) proves he puts his constituents last. He patronizes the people who put him into office. Can we afford another 2 years of Joel Engardio?
