Police Blotter: Sunset District

Robbery: 2300 Block of 34th Avenue, March 3, 12:09 p.m.

The victim was outside her home smoking when the suspect approached her and was very angry, looking for someone.

The suspect followed the victim into the apartment building and brandished a knife and stole the victim’s cell phone.

The suspect fled the scene.

Robbery With Force, Conspiracy, Receiving and Possession of Stolen Property With Knowledge: Multiple Locations, March 13, 1:50 p.m.

Park Station officers were on patrol in the area of Frederick and Stanyan streets when they received a FLOCK (license plate reader) notification of a suspect vehicle in the area. Officers later learned the vehicle was involved in a robbery of a USPS postal worker in the same area. Simultaneously, plainclothes units spotted the vehicle in the area of Haight and Fillmore streets.

Officers stopped the vehicle; its occupants, the two suspects, were detained without incident.

Further investigation revealed the suspects had robbed a USPS postal worker in the Richmond District prior to the Frederick and Stanyan street robbery.

Officers conducted “cold shows” with two victims and confirmed the two detained persons were the suspects involved in the USPS robbery. The suspects were arrested and booked.

Person With a Firearm: 1200 Block of 41st Avenue, March 8, 4:24 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of an armed adult male with a firearm threatening neighbors.

Officers attempted to make contact with the armed subject. During the encounter, the subject discharged his firearm, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.

The armed male subject was struck by gunfire. Officers rendered aid and paramedics responded to the scene.

The male was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was arrested.

Shoplifting, Assault: 1200 Block of Irving Street, March 11, 10:25 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of shoplifting.

The victim told officers that he saw the suspect inside the employee area of the store carrying numerous merchandise items and was about to leave through the emergency exit. The victim attempted to stop the suspect and the suspect pepper-sprayed the victim.

The suspect left the store with the stolen merchandise.

Officers searched the area and located the suspect.

The suspect was arrested.

Trespassing: 1600 Block of 48th Avenue, March 18, 6:44 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of vandalism.

The witness told officers the suspect lit an object on fire and fled the scene.

Officers located the suspect, but the suspect fled by jumping over fences. The suspect broke into a home and was found taking a shower.

The suspect was detained. Medics arrived on scene.

The suspect was determined to be in an altered state of mind and was transported to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Stolen Vehicle: 4500 Block of Irving Street, March 22, 2:27 a.m.

Officers were on patrol when they observed a person pushing a motorcycle.

A computer check revealed the motorcycle had been stolen.

The suspect was detained without incident. The suspect told the officer that the motorcycle was not hers and that it belonged to a friend.

After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.
