Echoes of Style, Threads of Time

SFSU’s Apparel Design and Merchandising program is proud to present Runway 2025: REQUIEM. Threading together the past, present, and future of fashion, REQUIEM encapsulates the rich and broad tapestry of fashion design over time while emphasizing the diverse approaches towards the creation of apparel. As a testament to the everlasting evolution of fashion, the juniors and seniors of the Apparel Design and Merchandising program will be presenting their unique creations and designs that push forward the legacy of fashion and its mark upon culture and society.

Embodying the knowledge and skills of design cultivated and learned over time, Runway 2025: REQUIEM will feature collections that are fully conceptualized, designed, and constructed by the senior designers. By applying the tried-and-true skills that have advanced the fashion industry to its present day and their own distinctive visions upon their collections, the seniors will pave the way for the forthcoming fashion of the future. As the next generation of designers, they carry the torch of design and decide the direction of the fashion industry.

The future of fashion is sustainable, and SFSU is here to put it into the spotlight. The junior designers will be partnering with Plato’s Closet to create new designs from the textiles of damaged and unwanted clothing. By strengthening sustainability initiatives in efforts to keep unwanted textiles out of landfills, the junior designs will show that upcycling and repurposing is imminent in the fashion industry – promoting circular and renewable practices.

Runway 2025: REQUIEM will be located on the SFSU campus, Annex 1 building on Thursday, May 8. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets for General Admission seating will be available at $30, and SFSU students with a valid student ID at $15.
