From the Editor: Notes About SFPD’s Richmond Station

By Michael Durand

I recently received an email from a reader who preferred to remain anonymous. We normally don’t publish letters to the editor anonymously, but it is good information, so I’ll share it here:

Hello! This local publication is dropped on my doorstep from time to time by a neighbor.

Recently I read something that had a comment about Captain Canning/Richmond officers not having time for some kind of in-person safety/incident update for this publication as they needed ‘boots on the ground.’

Here is some Richmond SFPD news that may be helpful for your paper:

1. The newsletter is excellent! The last one was May 8. Anyone can sign up here:

Richmond Station | San Francisco Police Department

2. The flyer for the monthly community meeting (attached below) is in the newsletter. The next one is Tuesday, May 27th at 14th/Clement at space offered by Beth Shalom. The captain gives us very helpful pptx presentations!

3. A great emergency tip I learned from a community meeting: 🚨

9-1-1 may be backlogged so by calling 415-553-8090 we may get faster response as this is the local/direct 9-1-1 for San Francisco residents.

4. The annual National Night Out event is the first Tuesday every August. The first one I ever attended was last year on JFK Promenade. It was really great for the community! It was nice to meet SFPD, SFFD and other personnel to ask questions. Kids seemed to really like it too!

Thank you to the letter writer for sharing this information.
