Use of Illegal Fireworks: Eighth Avenue and Cabrillo Street, Aug. 29, 11:22 p.m.
A citizen reported to SFPD dispatch that he heard fireworks in the area. Another caller reported he had seen a black four-door sedan with a sunroof, possibly a Volkswagen or Nissan, with an unknown license plate, throw fireworks out of the sunroof into the intersection. Another neighbor said he had video footage of the same vehicle. The video was uploaded to SFPD’s Axon community request website as evidence.
Officers watched the video, and it showed a dark four-door vehicle, possibly an Infiniti, drive slowly through the intersection and an unknown subject appeared to throw ignited fireworks out of the vehicle onto the street. The vehicle then drove away.
Another neighbor observed the same vehicle a few days later while walking his dog. He provided license plate information for that vehicle.
The case was assigned to the SFPD Night Investigations Unit.
Terrorist Threats: 36th Avenue and Balboa Street, Sept. 1, 9:10 a.m.
Richmond Station officers responded to a call of a subject who had been pepper sprayed.
Upon their arrival, they discoved the subject, who declined medical attention and stated he did not need an ambulance.
The subject had been called on by many local homeowners, local business owners and citizens alike in the area numerous times for harassing and erratic behavior.
Officers then spoke to another person, subject 2, who allegedly pepper sprayed the subject. Subject 2 said the subject who was pepper sprayed approached him and made terrorist threats to him and his daughter. The subject felt the threats were credible and was in fear for his and his daughter’s safety. Subject 2 deployed pepper spray in self-defense but did not think the pepper spray contacted the target.
Officers on-scene observed the subject had no irritation or redness to his face or any other body parts, indicative of pepper spray trauma, nor did he smell the presence of pepper spray, which carries a very distinct odor.
The subject who was originally reportedly pepper sprayed was booked for terrorist threats.
