The victim had an active temporary civil harassment order prohibiting the subject from contacting the protected person directly or indirectly, by any means including telephone, mail, email or other electronic means.

Burglary, Forcible Entry: 3200 Block of Sacramento Street, Sept. 29, 3:09 a.m.

Richmond Station officers responded to a report of a possible burglary in progress at a jewelry store.

Upon their arrival, they observed two unknown suspects inside the store. Both suspects were wearing black hooded sweatshirts and masks. Upon seeing the officers, the suspects fled on foot eastbound on Sacramento Street and got into a parked Volkswagen. The officers attempted to block the Volkswagen and gave verbal commands, which the suspects ignored.

One of the suspects then placed the Volkswagen into reverse and crashed into a parked Lexus behind it. In an attempt to remove the passenger from the vehicle, an officer punched the passenger side window causing it to break. However, the driver placed the Volkswagen into drive and escaped westbound on Sacramento Street with the lights off and was lost in the area.

The officer who punched the window sustained cuts and other injuries to his hand and was medically assessed by medics.

After clearing the jewelry store of any further suspects, officers observed a rolling trash can lined with trash bags. The trash can was completely filled and overflowing with jewelry. The inside of the store was ransacked, with empty shelves and items strewn about.

Due to the officers’ quick response, it did not appear the suspects were able to get away with any of the stolen jewelry.

Officers responded to a report of a male subject running around with a machine gun.

A witness told arriving officers she saw a subject carrying a gun, who was in an altercation with another person, enter another building across from her and heard a bang which the witness believed to be a gunshot.

While speaking with officers, the witness saw a person looking out of a window from the building where the suspect had entered and alerted officers to her observation.

Officers made initial contact with the person inside the building who denied any involvement in the incident. Officers reviewed video footage from the witness and observed a male subject walking back into the location and heard what they believed to be a gun shot.

Officers contacted the property manager to review video surveillance and observed a male subject enter the building carrying a firearm with a scope on a sling when the firearm discharged. Officers believed the subject in the videos to be the suspect and arrested the suspect without incident.

During officers’ protective sweep of the premises, a firearms safe, ammunition and a ballistic vest was found under the backyard staircase; a rifle in a black plastic bag was later found in the neighbor’s tradesman walkway.

Burglary, Forcible Entry: 3200 Block of Sacramento Street, Oct. 14, 3:20 a.m.

Richmond Station officers responded to a report of a burglary incident at a jewelry store, the second time within a month that the store had been burglarized.

Officers arrived on scene and met with the owner. All suspects were gone prior to the officers’ arrival.

Security videos showed several suspects go in and out of the store while loading a black sedan, which was parked in front of the store. The suspects then boarded the vehicle and fled eastbound on Sacramento Street. The reported loss was jewelry and a safe with an approximate value of $1 million.

SFPD’s citywide plainclothes teams had knowledge of the burglaries that occurred at the jewelry business. They were able to identify the suspect vehicle and, at approximately 5:45 p.m. on the same day, located the suspect vehicle in the area of Oakdale Avenue and Baldwin Court in the Bayview District. The plainclothes team conducted surveillance of the vehicle.

During the surveillance they observed the occupants enter a store. Officers later met with the store owner and discovered two large bags of jewelry from a recent transaction. The officers recognized the jewelry as being from the Sacramento Street jewelry store burglary.

At approximately 2:10 p.m. on Oct. 15, the suspect vehicle was located in the area of 16th Street and Potrero Avenue. Officers conducted surveillance on the vehicle and its occupants as it traveled throughout San Francisco. During the surveillance, officers were able to confirm the occupants were the same suspects from the day before.

Officers were able to take both occupants of the vehicle into custody without incident. Probable cause was established to place both subjects under arrest.
