Press Release: Outer Sunset Farmers Market Celebrates Lunar New Year

From Sunset Mercantile:

The Outer Sunset Farmers Market is proud to present a full lineup of cultural performances for the Lunar New Year celebration on Sunday, Feb. 15. Alongside the usual selection of Bay Area-based musicians, we will host an array of special dance programs and demonstrations starting at 9:30 a.m.

Starting the festivities will be the SF Happy Dance, followed by the SF Guqin and Xiao Music Society. For martial arts demonstrations as well as the traditional lion dancing, we’re excited to host Jing Mo Athletic Association at 11 a.m. and Melissa Alex Medel teaching Tai Chi at 1:15 p.m.

The Yatsunami Band and Marilyn Choy will be serenading the crowd through midday as well.

All Lunar New Year performances will be taking place at the Pacheco Street intersection of the market.

Stop by the North and South stages for an amazing musical lineup put together by Sunset Mercantile Music featuring Joyce Lee, The Berios Trio and more. Plus, KEPX Radio will be there to report, talk and mingle with the community.

And that’s not all we’ve got for this special holiday! The Artship is getting into the spirit with Year of the Horse crafts and activities. Explore the market with our scavenger hunt and claim the traditional red envelopes filled with surprises at the Info Booth.

Join us on the 15th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 37th Avenue and Ortega Street for this joyous event and let’s ring in the new year together with local food, vendors, music and performances. All this and more at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market!
