As we begin the New Year and a new legislative session, it’s exciting to see California revving its engines at the starting line with a new governor and a Democratic super-majority in both houses.
One of the special aspects about the Sunset District that artist Douglas Gorney appreciates most is “the ocean light,” especially during the autumn and the city’s “Indian summer.”

The mural, by artist Jeff Canham, was made
possible with financial help – $16,500 – from SF Supervisor Katy Tang’s
office and the assistance of the SF Arts Commission, People of
Parkside/Sunset (POPS) and SF Shines, a program under the city’s
Office of Economic and Workforce Development.
