On June 18, the last day the SF Board of Supervisors was allowed to place an initiative on the Nov. 5 ballot, District 4 Supervisor Joel Engardio, District 7 Supervisor Myrna Melgar and three other supervisors sent legislation to the SF Department of Elections calling for the closure of the Upper Great Highway (UGH). It took only five supervisors to put Proposition K on the ballot.

Transit safety means making our streets safer for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders and motorists. Advancing transit safety is paramount to creating a safe and accessible neighborhood for everyone. Since our time in office, we have been working on a number of transit-safety projects with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) for the Richmond District.

The long-awaited return of the Sunset Night Market has arrived, with two new Friday dates this summer and fall and an expanded footprint to bring more AAPI food, vendors, makers, community fun and local merchant highlights to the Irving Street corridor. The Sunset Night Markets will take place on Irving Street from 19th to 26th avenues from 5-10 p.m. on Aug. 30 and Sept. 27.
