After two decades lying derelict on Geary Boulevard as a virtual tomb decorated by graffiti hieroglyphs and faded peeling paint, the Alexandria Theater building might come back to life, but this time with more than 70 units of housing.
On June 20, the San Francisco Planning Commission gave approval to a new use for the Alexandria Theater on Geary Boulevard. The building, which was a movie theater for more than 80 years, will feature two swimming pools and meeting space.
After more than a dozen years of slow and silent disintegration, it seems the final curtain
has fallen for cinema at the Alexandria movie theater.
