A plan to build more than 250 residential units on the site currently operating as the California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC), located at 3700 California St., is now being reviewed by the SF Planning Department.
A bill now sitting in the state legislature would take the zoning power to reject taller buildings away from municipalities across California if developers want to put them near public transit stops.
A 13-building development planned at the University of California’s Laurel Heights
campus, a 10-acre site located at 3333 California St., has already drawn community
opposition, even as it is being reviewed by the SF Planning Department.
Westlake Kirkham Heights LLC has withdrawn its application at the SF Planning Department for a Conditional Use Permit to demolish 11 buildings with 86 rent-controlled residential units, and replace them with 14 buildings containing up
to 445 apartments.
