By Michael Durand I spoke with Quentin Kopp this morning and he acknowledges his September column was not accurate when he wrote that District 1 supervisorial candidate Marjan Philhour endorses Proposition K […]
As every new year begins, I pause to center my priorities and plan for how to put those ideals into action.
In news that came as no surprise to anyone, last month Marjan Philhour announced her third run for District 1 supervisor. Knocking out an incumbent – even in a district gerrymandered to improve her prospects – won’t be easy. That said, Philhour will benefit greatly from the largesse of the wealthiest political players in San Francisco, most notably the City’s tech elite.
I posted photos of Marjan’s postcard’s front and back on X (Twitter) along with a few of my comments of concern, and wow, did I get an earful of criticism from some Marjan fans, demanding I not knock her and instead support her unequivocally, asserting she’s the best candidate to depose incumbent Connie Chan next year.
As I announce my candidacy for District 1 supervisor, I bring a fresh perspective as a non-traditional candidate outside of the established political system. My vision as district supervisor revolves around three core principles: bringing people together, investing in local small businesses and keeping our neighborhood clean and safe.
As I promised on the campaign trail, my New Start Plan will prioritize the needs of small businesses and working people by pushing for robust and equitable public health services, building more affordable housing and keeping people housed, and uplifting those who are too often left behind by many of our City’s policies.
