December in the Richmond District is a month of holiday celebration, shopping and local film screenings. The Balboa Theater has hosted the independent film festival, Another Hole in the Head, for 22 years. The festival ran throughout the month of December at the theater.
… most of the scenes are shot at locations that have been referred to as the “Outerlands” of the City, specifically the Outer Richmond and Outer Sunset neighborhoods.
For nearly six years, her passion project has been a full-length documentary titled, “The Invisible Mammal,” which she wrote, directed and co-produced. Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, co-directing, co-producing and co-writing partners since 1978, are promoting their latest documentary, “Música!” during the fall film festival circuit. Despite winning Oscars, Emmys and a Grammy, creating and releasing new work never gets old.
As my passion for film grew and I was blessed to write movie reviews and feature stories, I became aware that each year, there’s an award season that begins with a fall film festival circuit, followed by a series of award ceremonies (Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards [SAG], British Academy of Film and Television Awards [BAFTA], among others), culminating with the Academy Awards.
