I decided to use this extra space on the candidates’ page to remind readers that we don’t take sides on issues and don’t endorse candidates. The reason why is to try to present a balance of news and views and not use the power of the press to sway opinions one way or another.
One of my favorite parts of this job is going out to public events and listening to feedback from our readers. About once a month, when a new issue comes out, I set up the Sunset Beacon table at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market.

I heard from District 4 Supervisor Joel Engardio who said some of the claims were not true. Here is Supervisor Engardio’s comment that can be found at the end of the original commentary.
I truly enjoy spending time at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market on occasional Sundays talking to readers and Sunset Beacon fans. We have so many terrific neighbors in the Sunset and few things inspire me more than hearing from people who express how much they love the paper and look forward to reading it each month.
Regular readers of the Richmond Review might have noticed that this space on page two has been the home of Kinen Carvala’s “Looking Back” column for several years.
Some people thought I wasn’t in my right mind when I bought the Richmond Review and Sunset Beacon newspapers five years ago.

For all you lovely people out there who were following my recent health scare, thank you once again for your concern and good thoughts. Just two months after my heart attack, I’m feeling great! I am so lucky and grateful.
I had a lot to be thankful for this past Thanksgiving. Not the least of which was suviving a massive heart attack on Oct. 18!
