In the heart of the Sunset District, a unique experiment in community education is entering its next chapter. On a recent crisp January afternoon, eight alumni of “Problem Library” gathered to help chart a more sustainable future for this unconventional nonprofit that has been challenging traditional notions of learning since 2016.
On April 18, the SF Board of Supervisors unanimously passed Supervisor Connie Chan’s resolution in Support of Digital Libraries and the Internet Archive. The resolution recognizes the essential rights of all libraries to own, preserve, and lend both digital and print books and urges the California State Legislature and the United States Congress to act to protect digital libraries.
Access to the UCSF library was the reason why many of us moved to the Inner Sunset. Slowly but surely, access to the library has been shrinking.

There was a birthday bash April 7 for one of the Sunset District’s oldest cultural institutions, the Sunset Branch Library.
The youth assisting with computer software, e-mail, Internet browsing and more give
free help with computers on Wednesdays, from 4-5 p.m., at the library, located
at 550 37th Ave.
Teen Computer Corps is available to answer patrons’ questions about email,
lap-top computers, tablets, cell phones, digital cameras, electronic gadgets and the
Internet.

Every Saturday, from 2-4 p.m., and Fridays, from 4-5 p.m., a member of the
Sunset Branch Library’s Teen Computer Corps is available to answer patrons’
questions about e-mail, lap-top computers, tablets, cell phones, digital cameras,
electronic gadgets and the Internet.
