On May 24, at approximately 6:14 p.m. officers responded to 31st Avenue and Clement Street regarding a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult female and her 5-year-old child who was struck by a vehicle while riding a push bike.
Officers were around La Playa and Balboa streets at approximately 1:30 a.m., when they observed a male, later identified as 29-year-old Joseph Martinez, igniting objects while walking in a park. Officers later observed a large active working fire.
