The single-family home prices in the Richmond District stabilized and rose after two years of decline with median prices increasing by 5.9% and the number of sales by 17.8% in 2024. Prices were pretty stable throughout the year as the Feds kept the interest rates steady, except for two quarter-point decreases later in the year. The Richmond Home Sales Comparison table shows the results in 2024 as compared with prior years, broken up by quarters.

In 1969, there was a hit song by Zager and Evans (who?) called “In the Year 2525.” As they counted up the years starting at 2525, the lyrics painted a rather bleak picture of a dystopian destiny for mankind.

It’s a New Year and you can count the herculean resolutions of all San Franciscans from Mayor-Elect Daniel Lurie to your humble but not always pleasing scribe. Remember that a New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other!
Originally, the very limited edition of artist Henri Matisse’s 1947 book of prints was going to be called, “Circus,” because the inspiration for several motifs concerned performing artists and balancing acts. The latest development in the City’s ongoing struggle to deal with people living in recreational vehicles (RVs) is the San Francisco Board of Supervisors’ rejection of Mayor London Breed’s revived policy for towing these rolling shelters away.
Following the passing of Proposition K, a controversial ballot measure which now will turn the Upper Great Highway into a full-time city park, a group of westside residents are beginning their attempt to recall District 4 Supervisor Joel Engardio, who advocated for the measure to be on the ballot.
Several months ago, we got through Golden Gate Park’s concert season, and the grassy meadows and fields were in recovery mode from the stages, tents, beer stalls and tens of thousands of tromping, dancing feet of the Outside Lands and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festivals.

For more than 120 years, the Richmond District’s water and sewer infrastructure system has served the neighborhood and beyond. With one of the sewer pipes dating back to 1877 and most water pipes installed in the late 1800s, these hardworking systems even withstood the trauma of the 1906 earthquake and fire.
