Outside Lands Contract Approved; Goes to Supes
In a unanimous vote on January 17, the commission sent the deal to the SF Board of Supervisors for final approval. The City’s contract with the Outside Lands Art and Music Festival expires in 2021.
Disaster: City Aims to Tap Lake Merced for Water
Plans for San Francisco’s emergency firefighting water system have been expanded to include drafting water from Lake Merced, which could help the entire west side, especially since Sunset Reservoir water could be claimed by other peninsula water districts.
Observing the Ruins
This photograph, circa 1907, shows Sweeney’s observatory on the top of Strawberry Hill in Golden Gate Park after it was destroyed by the massive earthquake that hit the City in April, 1906. The observatory was constructed as a part of the 1894 Mid-winter Exposition that was held in the park. Strawberry Hill, located in the middle of Stow Lake, is the tallest point in the park.
Streamline Cafe Showcases Creations of Local Artists
Wilson is part owner and manager of the Streamline Cafe and Art Salon, which is located on Taraval Street in the Outer Sunset District. He and fellow owner Dion Garcia both manage the cafe.

Conference Room Named for Leader
The SF School Board voted unanimously in December to rename a conference room at Lowell High School in honor of Lisa Clay, a long-time president of the Lowell Alumni Association. It will be called the Lisa Clay Parent Conference Room.

Campus Overhaul Coming to A.P. Giannini Middle School
Plans for rebuilding the A.P. Giannini Middle School are getting underway, using bond money and a state grant to modernize and upgrade the two-story, 160,882-square-foot building that sits at the corner of Ortega Street and 37th Avenue.
Mustangs Win State Championship!
The galloping mustangs at Abraham Lincoln High School ran roughshod over the Orange Glen High School Patriots on Dec. 15 to win a state football championship. The victory capped a perfect 13-0 season for Lincoln.
