A long-term vision for the Sunset District is developing, as the San Francisco Planning Commission unanimously endorsed Sunset Forward, a project designed by District 4 Supervisor Gordon Mar and various local community groups.
A two-year study of the Sunset District surveyed residents and produced a report prioritizing strategies to address the district’s needs concerning supporting housing, small business and commercial corridors, as well as neighborhood services.
We are excited to announce the release of the Sunset Forward report and final strategies. Join us for a virtual town hall on Thursday, May 26th at 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
he mission of Sunset Forward is “to stabilize low- and moderate-income families and seniors in the Sunset, enhancing community connection and quality of life for all by addressing unmet needs in housing, transportation, and neighborhood businesses and services.”
Housing affordability, access to neighborhood services, and local businesses remain top concerns.
Mar developed the Sunset Forward initiative as a community-centered way to directly gather input from District 4 residents. Their concerns, Mar explained, will help him prioritize the work he will do with other city agencies to address common concerns.
