Construction began this week to repair the iconic Trocadero Clubhouse in Sigmund Stern Grove, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department announced today.
A resolution approving up to $1.85 million for repairs to the Trocadero Clubhouse in Stern Grove was approved by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, although District 1 Supervisor Connie Chan criticized the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department for bungling the emergency bailout.
For 131 years, the building now known as the Trocadero Clubhouse in Sigmund Stern Grove hosted generations of San Franciscans. On March 11, it became the final resting place of an 85-foot-tall eucalyptus tree.
Efforts are underway to give landmark status to one of San Francisco’s hidden jewels in a location that has featured predominantly in the City’s history for more than a hundred years.
