West Portal Avenue might be getting 64 units of new housing if the San Francisco Planning Department approves a project which will demolish the old CinéArts at the Empire movie theatre and replace it with a 10-story building.
West Portal high schooler Katelyn Lee is working on making local politics, news and events accessible to San Francisco’s youth via a new website. The District 7 resident is the founder of PoliLink, a website dedicated to gathering important news related to San Francisco politics.
During this special operation, 13 shoplifters targeting various businesses were arrested.
On March 16, at approximately 12:13 p.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to the area of Ulloa Street and Lenox Way for a solo vehicle collision that crashed into pedestrians at a bus stop at the intersection of Ulloa Street and Lenox Way. On July 2, at approximately 5:15 p.m., TCIU Investigators located Lau at a residence on the 200 block of Crestlake Drive and placed her into custody for the arrest warrant.

Through the course of the investigation, The SFPD Traffic Collision Investigations Unit developed probable cause to book the driver, Lau, for three counts of felony vehicular manslaughter, felony reckless driving causing bodily injury and additional traffic violations.
On Wednesday, Sept. 27, at approximately 1:42 p.m., San Francisco Police officers from Taraval District responded to the 100 block of West Portal Avenue regarding an assault in progress. The investigation determined that a male suspect assaulted a victim without provocation and caused her to fall to the sidewalk.

The genesis of the land for this playground comes as a by-product of the West Portal rail station (now Muni), which opened on Feb. 3, 1918 as the western terminus of the Twin Peaks Tunnel.
The two pieces of a 3-D model of the West Portal neighborhood is on display at the West Portal Branch Library at 190 Lenox Way at Ulloa Street and West Portal Avenue.
