Press Release: SFPD Arrests Richmond District Homicide Suspect

SFPD Arrests Richmond District Homicide Suspect 

On Aug. 24, at approximately 9:31 p.m., San Francisco Police officers from Richmond District responded to the 3900 block of Balboa Street to investigate a reported robbery and aggravated assault. SFPD Officers arrived on scene and located a 60-year-old male victim laying on the ground and unconscious. Officers summoned medics to the scene who transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts made by hospital medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.  

The SFPD Night Investigations Unit conducted the initial investigation, and upon being notified that the victim succumbed to his injuries, the case was transferred to the SFPD Homicide Detail.  

Members of the Homicide Detail identified a person of interest, developed probable cause and obtained a warrant for the arrest of 22-year-old Santos De La Rosa. On Oct. 4, SFPD officers located and arrested De La Rosa in Hollister, California. De La Rosa was transported to San Francisco County Jail where he was booked on the charges of 187 PC (murder), 211 PC (robbery), and 245(a)(1) PC (aggravated assault).

  1. While there is a crime wave in this city, the police are doing their best. Hopefully, justice will be done in this tragic case.

    • Great that they caught the assailant in this terrible crime. I’m not sure if my previous reply where I misread the article about Santa Rosa went through or not but here’s my corrected reply. Good work SFPD.
