I read Quentin Kopp’s voting recommendations for the Nov. 5 election with dismay.  

Mr. Kopp believes that Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are equally bad and, therefore, he recommends a write-in candidate: himself. Harris’s sin is that she allegedly “cheated” in the 2003 election for San Francisco District Attorney. 

Mr. Kopp fails to mention that during Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign he paid Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about their affair so that he would not lose votes, a crime for which a jury recently convicted Mr. Trump of 34 felonies. A jury also found Mr. Trump civilly liable for sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll.  In addition, his rhetoric about the 2020 election culminated in a riot at the Capitol during which one person was shot and killed by the police and another (a police officer) died several days later in the hospital as the result of a heart attack on the day of the riot.  Further, several economists have said that Mr. Trump’s tariffs would be inflationary and could cause a recession, which is the last thing that we need after the economic damage inflicted on the country by the COVID pandemic. 

Ms. Harris may not be perfect, but she is far and away the “lesser of two evils” in this election.
