While I don’t share my point of view about closing or opening the Upper Great Highway, I do admit I like the use of the compromise at Halloween time to give kids a safe place to have some fun.
I was too busy at deadline to go myself, so I asked Lucas Lux, one of the event’s organizers, if he could share some pictures. His reply:
“Thanks for offering to include some photos from this year’s fourth annual Great Hauntway in the upcoming Sunset Beacon. Our team can provide photos.
Some fun facts you could include about SF’s largest Halloween celebration if you’d like:
• Over one mile of car-free trick-or-treating, when Halloween is the most dangerous day of the year for youth pedestrians.
• Over 130 community-hosted trick-or-treating stations.
• Over half a million pieces of candy handed out.
• Over 10,000 attendees.
• Live music from Carry Nation and the Sunset Community Marching Band.
• Nearly 150 volunteers from the community.”
Thank you, Lucas, and thanks to Boone Ashworth and David Enloe for the great pictures!
