Police Blotter: Sunset District

Robbery: 2200 Block of Irving Street, April 1, 2:03 p.m.

The victim told officers that she had just left the bank and was waiting for the bus when a suspect grabbed her purse. The victim attempted to retain her property, but the force used by the suspect to take the purse caused her to fall to the ground, resulting in injuries.

Officers located security video of the incident, which showed the suspects and their vehicle. Using FLOK, officers were alerted that the vehicle was near the Legion of Honor. While searching for the vehicle, officers also located a separate vehicle that had been broken into.

An SFPD drone operator later located the suspects and their vehicle near the Palace of Fine Arts. The drone operator observed the suspects actively engaging in a vehicle burglary. After a brief vehicle and foot chase, three suspects were subsequently arrested. Officers located the properties that were stolen from the auto burglary and robbery.

Battery: 2300 Block of Noriega Street, April 3, 10:59 a.m.

The victim told officers that he was parked when the suspect hit his vehicle from behind. The victim confronted the suspect and attempted to photograph the suspect and his vehicle. The suspect knocked the victim’s cell phone to the ground and pushed him, causing pain. The suspect left the scene.

Bomb Threat: 3200 Block of 20th Avenue, April 6, 1:24 p.m.

Officers responded to Stonestown Galleria regarding a bomb threat. After a thorough search, officers did not locate any suspicious items. Officers also learned that similar threats were reported at other shopping malls in the Bay Area.

Assault: 200 Block of Font Boulevard, April 6, 3:55 p.m.

The victim told officers that she was involved in an argument with the suspect over parking. The suspect later threw a canned drink at the victim.

Evading Police: Intersection of Brotherhood and Thomas More Way, April 16, 3:25 a.m.

Officers were notified by FLOCK of a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle, pulled behind it and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect in the stolen vehicle reversed towards the officers and then drove away at a high rate of speed.

Battery: 1900 Block of Irving Street, April 22, 8:41 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a battery. The victim, a bartender, told officers that the suspect had been drinking at the bar and became belligerent.

The victim told the suspect that she needed to leave. When the victim attempted to film the incident with her cell phone, the suspect took the victim’s phone and shattered it on the floor. The victim then tried to hold the suspect back and was pushed. Officers later located the suspect and cited her.

Battery: 2200 Block of 24th Avenue, April 24, 2:37 p.m.

The victim told officers that the suspect, a delivery person, attempted to deliver a package to her downstairs neighbor. The suspect had no form of identification indicating he was a delivery person and was driving a regular vehicle. The victim refused the package, and an argument ensued. The suspect pushed the victim, then left the scene, leaving the package behind. The victim refused the package. Officers took the package for safekeeping.

Robbery: 1300 Block of Seventh Avenue, April 29, 11:09 a.m.

SFPD officers assigned to the Citywide Plainclothes Team began surveillance of a purple Dodge Challenger suspected of being involved in a series of auto burglaries.

While surveilling the vehicle, officers observed a subject wearing a black ski mask exit the suspect vehicle and walk toward a school located on the 1300 block of Seventh Avenue. A Drone as a First Responder (DFR) unit was on scene assisting with the surveillance.

Moments later, the same subject was observed running back toward the vehicle while being chased by an unknown individual. The subject entered the Dodge Challenger, which then fled the scene at a high rate of speed, traveling on Seventh Avenue and then onto Judah Avenue.

Shortly after observing the above actions, officers discovered that a strong-arm robbery had just been reported on the 1300 block of Seventh Avenue. The victim had been pepper sprayed and a gold chain was taken.

Plainclothes officers and DFR maintained surveillance on the suspect vehicle which traveled to the 2900 block of 24th Street. The passenger entered a jewelry store located on the 2900 block of 24th Street. Officers maintained surveillance on the vehicle which parked on Florida Street.

Officers entered the jewelry store and detained the passenger who just gave a gold chain to the jewelry store employee. Officers noticed the gold chain matched the description of the chain that was stolen from the victim. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the passenger and seized the gold chain.

Officers who kept watch of the vehicle and the driver observed the driver exit the vehicle. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the driver at the intersection of 24th and Florida streets.

Officers recovered the stolen gold chain from the jewelry store and returned it to the victim.

One suspect is a juvenile female, and the other is an 18-year-old male. Both suspects were arrested for robbery, conspiracy and possession of stolen merchandise.
