When Susan Bell was a little girl, her mother received a Ukranian Easter egg, called a pysanky, from a friend, an immigrant from Eastern Europe. Bell remembers admiring its bright colors and designs and would look forward to each spring when the egg was put on display.

Hoping to make Muni’s 28-19th Avenue bus run faster, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) installed “temporary” high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes through Golden Gate Park and the Richmond District, starting at Crossover Drive and along Park Presidio Bypass, then north up Park Presidio Boulevard.

This is my friend Jim Sugarek’s vegan interpretation of his mom’s Tex-Mex chili recipe.  The omission of meat makes this dish veg-friendly And the addition of tofu and more vegetables gives it a colorful and nutritional boost.  Served with rice and/or tortilla this is a substantial meal.
