Letter to the Editor: In Support of District Supervisorial Elections
Furthermore, if we still had at-large elections, there would have been no recall – whom would you recall? The whole Board? Those board members who voted to put this on the ballot?

When I gave the commencement speech for political science graduates at San Francisco State University last year, I told the class:
“You are charged with analyzing and navigating some of the world’s most intractable issues. But if you want to practice your skills for the State Department or the United Nations, go to any neighborhood association meeting in San Francisco and ask the following questions: ‘Should the Great Highway be a highway for cars or a park for people? Where should we build housing? How high can the buildings be?’”
Board of Supervisors Seeks Answers to San Francisco Parks Alliance Fiasco
Investigating the financial implosion of the San Francisco Parks Alliance has a lot of people pointing fingers and laying blame, yet so far the Board of Supervisors’ Government Audit and Oversight Committee inquiries have only raised more questions.
Supes Subpoena SF Parks Alliance Leaders
Subpoenas are on the way to former leaders of the San Francisco Parks Alliance (SFPA) after they found themselves in hot water once again. This time, instead of responding with defiance, the private non-profit completely dissolved itself, leaving about 80 community groups high and dry.
Board of Supervisors Votes to Approve Chan’s Upzoning Notification Bill
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed legislation 8-3 at its April 22 meeting requiring tenants, businesses and property owners to be notified about zoning changes proposed for parts of the City’s west side.
Commentary: Richie Greenberg
The west side of San Francisco is primed for a Republican or conservative independent candidate to win a seat on the Board of Supervisors. Recent elections results coupled with analysts’ data maps overlaying how voters answered key ballot measures by district borders paint a conclusive trend: Should a viable Republican candidate throw their name in the hat for the 2026 and 2028 citywide and district elections, they would have a good chance at winning.

I’m humbled by the views of residents who opposed the measure. Many said they didn’t feel heard in the process, and I take their concerns to heart.
Papers Filed to Start Recall Process of District 4 Supervisor Joel Engardio
Richard Corriea, retired SFPD commander and former captain at the Richmond Station, turns a petition signed by 80 Sunset District residents over to the SF Department of Elections to start a recall process against District 4 Supervisor Joel Engardio. Those calling for the ouster of the supervisor are upset over the recent passage of Proposition K, the measure Engardio introduced to close the Upper Great Highway to vehicle traffic. The supervisor has seven days to respond. If the language of the petition is approved, a signature-gathering drive would begin. Close to 10,000 valid signatures will have to be garnered from District 4 residents over the course of three months for a special election to be called. Right: Corriea addresses members of the press on Dec. 3 after handing over the recall petition.
Where Two Leading D-1 Supervisorial Candidates Get Their Small Donations
Although most media coverage of San Francisco’s upcoming elections has focused on big money donors like Ron Conway and others, a sampling of who is giving smaller donations of less than $500 each also tells a story.
