Last month, my office welcomed the Golden Gate Park Community Benefit Fund recipients and Another Planet Entertainment to the Richmond Recreation Center to jointly announce $110,000 in funding for community-based organizations and programs benefiting the Richmond. As part of the Outside Lands (OSL) contract with the City, the Richmond District receives annual funding from Another Planet Entertainment (APE) to help mitigate the impacts the concert series has on our neighborhood.

On March 7, Supervisor Connie Chan was joined by Community Benefit Fund recipients and Another Planet Entertainment to announce $110,000 in funding for community based organizations and programming from the Golden Gate Park Community Benefit Fund.
Today, Supervisor Connie Chan announced the initial agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), was signed jointly by TimeSpace Alexandria, LLC and the Office of Workforce and Economic Development. Supervisor Chan has long been advocating for the site, located at 5400 Geary Blvd. in the Richmond District, to be developed into housing while preserving the history of the theater.
As your district supervisor, I am working to deliver the public safety resources the Richmond needs and deserves. With the mayor and her administration prioritizing the revitalization of downtown over our neighborhoods, we are seeing an increase in burglaries on the west side; we experienced two incidents where suspects drove vehicles through the front of businesses, and our small businesses are reporting an increase in broken windows and stolen goods.
Public safety is a big priority for many voters today, including myself. Over the last year, I have had my store on Geary Boulevard broken into many times. Many residents are concerned that crime has become more prevalent and too many of those crimes go unsolved. In light of these concerns, it’s natural that we look for the causes.
Last December I sent out a message to Richmond neighbors about the mayor and her Planning Department’s plan to upzone the entire City, which would increase the building height limit on our streets. In the Richmond, this means Geary Boulevard could have buildings as tall as 140 feet at some intersections. I asked our community for input on these plans because your voices are important in this process.
Supervisor. Julie’s arguments there, and in her more recent “Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics” commentary, conjure a “class war” narrative in an attempt to blur important electoral choices SF residents have in the year ahead.
Stirring up discontent about crime is nothing more than a cynical attempt at grabbing voter attention. GrowSF and groups like them are spending millions to influence city elections and they haven’t been shy about their intentions.

I consider it a privilege to serve you. While it is often uncomfortable to confront the power of City Hall, as your district representative I will continue to fight for and demand resources for the Richmond, including increasing resources for public safety, building housing that people can afford and improving city service efficiency.
In news that came as no surprise to anyone, last month Marjan Philhour announced her third run for District 1 supervisor. Knocking out an incumbent – even in a district gerrymandered to improve her prospects – won’t be easy. That said, Philhour will benefit greatly from the largesse of the wealthiest political players in San Francisco, most notably the City’s tech elite.
It is hard to believe that it is already November! As we get closer to the holidays, I want to take a moment to encourage all of you to shop and eat locally – TimeOut listed our District as the coolest in San Francisco, and it’s in no small part thanks to our local restaurants and shops. Protecting and supporting our small businesses takes all of us working together.
I posted photos of Marjan’s postcard’s front and back on X (Twitter) along with a few of my comments of concern, and wow, did I get an earful of criticism from some Marjan fans, demanding I not knock her and instead support her unequivocally, asserting she’s the best candidate to depose incumbent Connie Chan next year.
The Arguello Quick Build Bicycle Safety Project can now move forward after Assembly Budget Chair Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) successfully secured $1.2 million in state funding to install protected bike lanes connecting Golden Gate Park and The Presidio.
