Press Release: SFPD Arrests Suspect for Threats, Shots Fired and Firearm Brandishing

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, at approximately 7:20 p.m. an unknown male entered a Jewish Synagogue located on the 2600 block of Balboa Street, shot a firearm several times then fled the scene. There were no reports of injury or property damage. Officers seized expended casings that were fired, which is being investigated as possible blanks.  

On Tuesday, Jan. 31, at approximately 8 p.m., an unknown male entered a theater located on the 3600 block of Balboa Street and brandished a handgun. The subject fled the scene on foot on Balboa Street. There was no report of injury or property damage.

Press Release: ‘The Doodler’ Cold Case Investigation Update

During the same period of time, five victims were found murdered in the Ocean Beach/Golden Gate Park area. As a result of a new investigation, it is believed that Warren Andrews may be the sixth victim of the “Doodler.” On April 27, 1975, Andrews was a victim of an assault at Lands End. Andrews was found unconscious and never regained consciousness dying several weeks later. All six victims are believed to be gay Caucasian males. 

Press Release: Number of Vacant Homes in SF Climbs by 52% in Two Years

Vacant homes in San Francisco have skyrocketed from approximately 40,000 in 2019 to more than 60,000 in 2021, a 52 percent increase in just two years, according to a report released today by the City’s Budget and Legislative Analyst. An estimated 15% of all homes in San Francisco are empty, by far the highest rate among major cities in the country, the report found.
