The Outside Lands music festival might spawn a mini-festival in Golden Gate Park; the Recreation and Park Commission unanimously approved a permit for Another Planet Entertainment (APE) to host concerts there the following weekend.

For many, it would be a dream come true to live in the Presidio.

But the crucial services they provide are in jeopardy because the agencies running them are facing a “fiscal cliff,” – a situation in which declining fare revenue and the end of pandemic funding from the federal government could result in significant operational cuts. In addition, our Bay Area operators rely on fare box revenue to fund operations more than transit agencies in other regions such as Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles.
“Recreation Valley” was the term in the 1893 annual report of the Park Commissioners of San Francisco to the Board of Supervisors used for 20 acres north of Fifth and Sixth avenues near Golden Gate Park’s southern edge. The report stated that people started playing football in Recreation Valley before people started playing baseball there, so football players got dibs to play there. The valley had been recently graded and covered in 12 to 18 inches of loamy soil.
The National Park Service (NPS) plans for the renovation of Sea Cliff’s China Beach, including a complete upgrade of the bath house, picnic area, retaining wall protecting the beach, viewing terraces and other amenities, are moving forward.
