I have not bought jams from a grocery store ever since I moved to California, some 50+ years ago. And I have raised three children, frequently making them PB&J sandwiches for lunch. Now that the kids are grown, I still enjoy making jams, sometimes for myself or to give them away to friends.
Letter to the Editor: Only One Dollar Per Resident ‘Community Benefit’ from Outside Lands
The promoter of Outside Lands has so magnanimously granted us residents of the Richmond and Sunset $35,000 each in so-called Community Benefit Funds from Outside Lands profits. Researched that the Richmond itself has about 35,000 residents, so each of us get a “benefit’ of exactly ONE DOLLAR for the lost weekend of noise and air pollution, heavy traffic, etc. Can assume the Sunset residents “benefit” about the same.
Letter to the Editor: Opposed to Additional Concerts After Outside Lands
We are opposed to holding the post-Outside Lands (OSL) concert in Golden Gate Park (GGP). The post-OSL concert may be fun for the privileged few who can afford the tickets, but for the residents of the Sunset and Richmond Districts, the neighbors of GGP, it’s no fun at all.

I’m in the east bay, but I enjoy visiting Ocean Beach frequently.
I’m horrified by the frequent fires there and the resulting air

Sunset’s First Night Market to Debut on Irving in September
The first Sunset Night Market is coming to Irving Street, between 20th and 23rd avenues, on Friday, Sept. 15, 5-10 p.m., to test the concept presented by District 4 Supervisor Joel Engardio.

Last December, I was a newly elected supervisor expected to show up at City Hall with ideas to fix things. As my husband and I walked through a Taipei night market, we looked at all the food, entertainment and art. Then we imagined all that fun in the Sunset in the middle of Irving Street.

For the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department’s Therapeutic Recreation Inclusion Services Team, this outdoor adventure does not serve as a movement activity alone. Instead, its greater purpose called for inclusivity for people with disabilities soon entering the workforce.
