“Being in the ocean is like breathing,” Sachi Cunningham said. “If I’m not in the ocean for a period of time, I feel like I’m not me. It basically allows me to be who I am, which is an ocean lover.”
OBSF Board Repair has taken several forms in the decade-plus since Jon started his own business. First, he worked out of the back of Aqua Surf Shop on Judah Street. Then he set up shop at a friend’s house. When he outgrew that space, he moved into a shed-turned-workshop on a quiet street in the Outer Sunset.
In 2018, Stone won the Women’s Shortboard High School State Championship at Oceanside Harbor in San Diego. The following season, she snagged three more regional championships and seven first-place finishes in individual events.
