A new film about Parkmerced will be featured at the 16th annual
SF Documentary Festival in June.
“Who Killed Parkmerced?” explores the fate of the largest residential
housing development in the City, located next to San Francisco State University on
the southern end of 19th Avenue.
The film explores how “developer greed and a disregard for neighborhood character and
livability” propelled a plan to significantly increase the number of units at the site.
The film, also featuring a new song by David Rovics (“Gentrification Town”), will be
shown at the Roxie Theater on Saturday, June 10, at 12:30 p.m.; and Monday,
June 12, at 7:15 p.m.
Films will be shown at the DocFest from May 31 to June 15, at the Roxie and Vogue
theaters and the Alamo Drafthouse.
