Police Blotter: Richmond District

Trespassing: 3300 Block of Geary Boulevard, April 2, 9:15 a.m.

Officers responded to a possible burglary in progress.

Upon their arrival, officers met with the reporting party, who told them he was inspecting his property when he heard movement inside the garage space. On a previous occasion, officers responded to a similar call and observed a suspect flee the building via the roof.

Due to the chance of flight using the rooftops, a UAV officer deployed a drone to provide overwatch of the building. Officers then made their announcements into the garage space identifying themselves as police officers.

An officer observed a pair of hands raised and that person was ordered out of the building where he was detained. That subject stated there were additional subjects in the building.

Another order was given to subjects to make themselves known. A second subject emerged and was detained. Due to the amount of debris and construction material in the building, it was unsafe to conduct a thorough search for additional suspects. Another drone was utilized to clear the remainder of the building. No other suspects were located. The property owner stated he would like the subjects arrested for trespass. Both subjects were cited at the scene and released.

Burglary, Forcible Entry: 3100 Block of Pacific Avenue, April 7, 2 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a burglary.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the victims, who stated they were out of town and upon returning home, discovered their house was broken into and numerous items were missing.

A walkthrough of the house revealed numerous rooms ransacked and multiple drawers opened. The victim stated the total loss may be in the area of $75,000 in jewelry and watches.

The incident was forwarded to the SFPD burglary unit which will conduct the follow-up investigation.

Burglary, Forcible Entry: 200 Block of 18th Avenue, April 9, 10:15 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a burglary.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the victim, who stated his vehicle was burglarized inside his locked garage. He stated the incident was captured on the apartment building’s security camera. He observed an unknown suspect pick the lock to the front door of the building, gain entry to the lobby and make his way into the unlocked garage.

Several items were stolen from the interior of the victim’s vehicle.

The incident was forwarded to the SFPD burglary unit which will conduct the follow-up investigation.

Burglary, Unlawful Entry: 200 Block of 32nd Avenue, April 10, 2:56 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a burglary.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the victim, who stated he received a notification on his cellphone that there was movement in his garage. The victim observed an unknown suspect walk into his garage, grab a bicycle hanging from the ceiling and walk outside with it.

The victim activated his car alarm in an attempt to scare the suspect. The victim decided to go back to bed and contact the police in the morning.

A few hours later he observed the same suspect enter the garage and grab another bicycle and walk out. The victim then contacted 911.

The incident was forwarded to the SFPD burglary unit which will conduct the follow-up investigation.

Burglary, Unlawful Entry: 100 Block of John F. Kennedy Drive, April 10, 10:21 a.m.

Officers initially responded for a report of a burglary victim following a burglary suspect.

Officers arrived and detained a subject matching the description of the person the victim provided. During their investigation, officers interviewed the victim who showed them video and photos of a burglary incident in which the suspect was seen burglarizing a local residence.

Because the physical characteristics of the suspect in the video and photos matched the physical characteristics of the subject they detained, officers arrested the suspect for burglary.

Burglary, Forcible Entry: 2400 Block of Lake Street, April 11, 12:01 a.m.

Officers responded in regard to an attempted burglary call.

Upon their arrival, the victim told officers that an unknown suspect attempted to break into his residence garage by drilling a hole in the garage door.

The victim stated the suspect was unable to make entry into the garage. The victim stated he did not hear anything and he had no surveillance cameras that captured the incident.

Burglary, Unlawful Entry: 400 Block of Locust Street, April 12, 4:26 a.m.

Officers responded in regard to a residential burglary call.

Upon their arrival, the victim told officers his attached garage was broken into and his guitar was stolen. The suspect had broken into their vehicle that was parked in the driveway and used the garage door opener on the visor to open the garage door.

The incident was forwarded to the SFPD burglary unit which will be conducting the follow-up investigation.

Burglary, Unlawful Entry: 5400 Block of Geary Boulevard, April 13, 3:38 a.m.

Officers responded in regard to a commercial burglary call.

Upon their arrival, the victim told officers that an unknown suspect had made entry into the business and had stolen a cash register containing approximately $1,000.

The suspect exited the store and fled in an unknown direction.

The incident was forwarded to the SFPD burglary unit which will be conducting the follow-up investigation.

Burglary, Forcible Entry: 3200 Block of Sacramento Street, April 14, 5:11 a.m.

Officers responded in regard to an attempted burglary call.

The victim stated she observed an unknown suspect attempting to break into her store with a hammer. Numerous officers responded. The suspect fled in an unknown direction prior to the officers’ arrival.

The officers observed a damaged glass pane and door handle; however, it did not appear the suspect had entered the business. Video footage obtained showed the suspect arrive on an electric scooter and attempt to use a small sledgehammer to break the glass.

A few hours later, officers were patrolling the Sacramento Street corridor due to the increase in burglaries in the area. The officers observed a suspect matching the description of the individual who attempted to break into the store the previous morning riding an electric scooter on Collins Street approaching Euclid Street.

The suspect was riding the scooter on the sidewalk. Officers ordered the individual to stop, and the person willfully fled from the officers. An officer gave chase on foot while his partner followed in the patrol car.

The officer chasing on foot eventually caught up to the suspect riding the scooter and tackled him to the ground, where he was placed into handcuffs.

An arrest search of the subject revealed multiple burglary tools and possession of stolen property from a prior burglary.

The subject was booked into county jail on multiple charges. The incident was forwarded to the SFPD burglary unit, which will be conducting the follow-up investigation.

Burglary, Forcible Entry: 400 Block of 33rd Avenue, April 16, 5:22 a.m.

Officers responded to an attempted hot prowl burglary.

Upon officers’ arrival, the victim told them she was awakened by a sound at her bedroom window.

She went to the window and noticed the windscreen was loosened. She observed an unknown male standing below her window before disappearing in a side alley.

Officers conducted a search of the area with negative results.
