‘Overtures and Undertows:’ Captivating Picks from Eclectic Lineup at the Frameline50 Film Festival

Frameline, the annual San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, with a festival running from June 17-27. The milestone is a big deal for the largest and longest-running queer film festival in the world. Several San Francisco and East Bay venues, including the newly restored Castro Theatre, will host 140 films from 35 countries with LGBTQ+ themes by mostly queer filmmakers. Programming for the 11-day event also includes parties, networking events and industry panels.

Wiener leads the pack with more than 40,000 votes (41.26%), and pulled the majority of votes from precincts citywide.

On May Day 2026, hundreds of people marched with union members at the San Francisco International Airport, who are currently in contract negotiations hoping for better pay. According to media reports the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) says 25 people were arrested, including District 1 Supervisor and U.S. Congressional candidate Connie Chan, California State Senator Josh Becker, San Francisco Supervisor Rafael Mandelman and a former San Francisco Supervisor, Jane Kim, who is now running for California’s Insurance Commissioner.

Video: No King’s Day 3.0 in San Francisco

In this video,  RichmondSunsetNews.com reporter Thomas K. Pendergast reports on Saturday’s No King’s Day of Protest. On March 28, thousands of demonstrators in San Francisco joined a nationwide protest, the largest single-day protest in US history, opposing President Donald Trump’s administration’s war against Iran, and the remaking of the United States to fit the agenda of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025.
