Zitouna opened its doors this May, bringing a new taste of North Africa to Clement Street and 26th Avenue. The smell of spices drift into the sidewalk, and inside, owner Mehdi Karoui moves through the kitchen the way he tells stories – fast, sensory and anchored by muscle memory.
On May 24, at approximately 6:14 p.m. officers responded to 31st Avenue and Clement Street regarding a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult female and her 5-year-old child who was struck by a vehicle while riding a push bike.
How did a cozy Turkish restaurant on Clement Street build a buzzing wine program? It comes from Kitchen Istanbul’s owner’s philosophy of providing customers with an incredible bargain and valuing the people behind the product.
Clement Street has long been a cherished Richmond District destination. Neighbors and visitors browse Green Apple Books, grab dim sum or a hot bowl of Pho on a foggy day, and wheel their carts and kids to the Farmers Market on Sunday mornings.
