  1. While I no longer live in the Richmond and reside in assisted living, I greatly mourn and abhor the disappearance of the wonderful groceries and businesses on Geary Street.
This is the result of flawed, crackpot planning of the MTA which has formulated a flawed scheme of making the buses run faster instead of simply adding more buses. If their mission is to destroy public transportation to the detriment of the city, they are tragically succeeding.
Their policies are: If you can’t become part of the solution, become part of the problem and if you can’t solve the problem make it worse.
The best of luck in your efforts to resist the madness of MTA!

  2. What are the top 5 policy changes that would best help small businesses in the Richmond survive?

Is preventing the loss of 1% of parking spaces (and having fewer bus-riding customers) one of the top threats? I know parking is top-of-mind, but I’d be surprised if that was one of the top issues that is holding Richmond small businesses back. If it is, I’d expect them to advocate strongly for even more parking than exists today.

I’d love to learn which policies are most important for the merchants.

  3. I sympathize with the Richmond’s small businesses, but I wonder: is this one of the top issues that’s holding their success back? What are the top 5 changes that the small merchants would ask of the city. Is more parking and less transit really in the top 5?
