Letter to the Editor: Pet Pix’s Newest Star, Boba

Editor:

My name is Vy (Vee), and my husband and I became new residents of the Outer Sunset area two years ago. One of the things that made us fall in love with this neighborhood was discovering your local newspaper — on the day we toured our home, we saw a copy of the Sunset Beacon on the front porch, and it felt like an instant connection to the community. We truly appreciate the work you do to keep us informed and united.

I noticed that you feature a “Pet Pix” section and would love to introduce our dear Shiba Inu, Boba. We’ve raised him since he was a puppy, and he’s now almost 12 years old, celebrating his next birthday in January. Boba is a purebred Shiba Inu with a warm, gentle spirit and a unique personality. Though true to his breed’s notorious stubbornness and sassiness, he’s unusually calm, kind and sweet.

Boba has had quite a journey recently. He underwent several surgeries to treat chronic ear infections and lung issues, which were very hard on him. There was a time when we feared we might lose him, but his resilience and will to keep fighting were truly inspiring. Now, he’s back to his happy self, enjoying naps, his favorite burgers, and, of course, striking a pose whenever there’s a camera around.

Thank you so much for your consideration, and for all that you do for the Richmond/Sunset community!

Vy
