The highly anticipated race for Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi’s seat in Congress – the first time this seat has been open since 1987 – is coming to a head this month, as S.F. District 1 Supervisor Connie Chan and State Sen. Scott Wiener make their final arguments citywide for the vote.

Much of the election is coming down to the west side, where Chan is the supervisor for the Richmond District, and Wiener has set up his campaign headquarters on California Street near Fifth Avenue.

As the candidates enter the final stretch, with mail-in ballots being sent out in early October, our team followed Chan around to see what a day on the campaign trail looks like at this pivotal moment.
